Meet The Director
Lavern Spruill is an award-winning author, filmmaker, publisher, entrepreneur, and proud United States Army Veteran. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LV Magazine, LV Magazine Kids, LV Magazine Teen, LV Magazine Babies, and LV Media Pictures. Since founding
LV Magazine in 2017, she has built a successful multimedia brand dedicated to celebrating youth achievement, family entertainment, and positive storytelling.
A decorated Army veteran, Lavern's military honors include recognition as Soldier of the Month, Sharpshooter, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and a Humanitarian Award for her work supporting communities in Ukraine.
As an accomplished author, Lavern has published Portrait of an African American Girl, 333, The Reeves, and The Dark House. She is also the creator and producer of the animated family film Vashti and Friends Halloween Adventure.
In 2026, Lavern will be honored with the Trailblazer Award in recognition of her leadership, creativity, humanitarian service, and contributions to publishing and filmmaking. Through every endeavor, her mission is to inspire, empower, and create opportunities for future generations.
